Champions League Summary: Week 2

Leroy Sané's Goal for Bayern Munich was the best of the week (Photo: Wikipedia)

On Tuesday, the biggest games were the clashes between Bayern Munich against FC Barcelona, and FC Liverpool against Ajax Amsterdam. Obviously, the main headliner was the Bayern vs. Barça game, where Robert Lewandowski played his first game against his former club. Unfortunately for him, the game ended with a 2-0 win for the Bavarian team, with the goals from Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sané. Sané’s goal deserves to be called the best of this week’s Champions League action.

On the other hand, FC Liverpool won their first CL game with a 2-1 result against Ajax. The winning goal was scored in the last minute thanks to a dramatic header by Joel Matip that barely made it through the goal line. The other goals were scored by the Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah, and M. Kudus. Kudus’ goal also deserves to be mentioned, and easily makes it into the top 3 most beautiful goals of the week.

Wednesday was a bit more interesting with the games Real Madrid against RB Leipzig, Manchester City against Borussia Dortmund and FC Chelsea against FC Salzburg all on the schedule. Probably the most dramatic one had to be the game between Dortmund and City, since Erling Haaland not only faced his former club, but also managed to score the winning goal against them in the dying minutes.
