Ukraine’s Interior Minister Dead in Helicopter Crash

A helicopter crash outside the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv claimed the lives of at least 16 people, including Ukraine’s Interior Minister. The helicopter crashed into an occupied nursery early on Wednesday morning.


Interior Minister among Victims of Helicopter Crash

On Wednesday morning, a helicopter crash in the Ukrainian town of Brovary claimed the lives of at least 16 people, including the Ukrainian Interior Minister and many of his ministry’s officials. Denys Monastyrsky, who had been Interior Minister of the country since 2021 and was 42 years old at the time of his death, is the highest-ranking state official to die in Ukraine since the country was invaded by Russia in February of last year. The helicopter crashed into a nursery school, which was occupied at the time by both children and adult staff. According to various media outlets, at least 16 have died as a result of the crash, including at least two children, while 10 other children are currently in the hospital. There has been no update on their condition. So far, no cause for the crash has been named by Ukrainian media.
